Softshare was established in 1982 as a time-sharing service of high-speed computers, working with the federal government. It expanded its services in 1984 to provide comprehensive government contracting services via proprietary network and e-mail-based solutions.
Softshare's direction took another significant turn in 1992, when the federal government embraced electronic data interchange (EDI), a new technology that was to become an integral part of the contracting process. To keep its growing government client base ahead of the competition, Softshare developed a single-source EDI solution that combined easy-to-use software with an integrated value-added network. This solution allowed government contractors to electronically exchange vital documents, such as RFQs, quotes, and purchase orders with their most important customer: the United States Government.
Recognizing EDI's value to all businesses—not just government contractors—Softshare enhanced its services to include a business-to-business EDI solution. Softshare's easy-to-use desktop software was augmented with standard EDI business document templates such as purchase orders, invoices, and advance ship notices to support electronic commerce relationships between any two trading partners.
In 2005, Softshare went international, opening European headquarters in Amsterdam, Netherlands.

JRX Services is an EDI consulting firm and is an offshoot of Success Systems, Inc. (SSI), which was founded in 1976 by Warren Spiller. SSI developed ground-breaking industry-specific software applications including Order Processing & Validation, EDI solutions, Marketing Tools, and Sales Analysis. By the year 2000, SSI had grown from 2 to over 40 employees, and had achieved the position of premier supplier of technology solutions for consumer package goods (CPG) for sales organizations throughout the USA and Canada. In 2000, SSI merged with a large publicly traded software company. Shortly thereafter, the principals and some former employees of SSI founded the EDI consulting firm, JRX Services.
Prior to the inception of JRX Services, Warren Spiller and his staff had the good fortune to work with the EDI software solutions offered by Softshare, Inc. They were so impressed with the quality of Softshare’s products, as well as the superior support, that the first action taken after forming JRX was to apply for, and become, an Authorized Solutions Integrator for Softshare.
